Gordon Large earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education/Trombone from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York, in May of 1979. While there he took a piano tuning class under Edward Swenson, RPT. Little did he know that this elective would become his career and he would create a business where he has no employees, and you–the customers–are his boss.
He became a Registered Piano Technician with the Piano Technicians Guild in October of 1982. He worked in Montana and New York before moving his business to Mount Vernon, Maine, in the winter of 1989.
Gordon has been tuning and repairing pianos for over 40 years. He became a Registered Piano Technician (RPT) in 1982 and opened Gordon’s Piano Tuning & Repair. Currently located in Farmingdale, ME he tunes and repairs pianos for schools and colleges (including Colby College) churches and private customers within a 50 mile radius of Augusta. . He has served as President of the Maine Chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild, Secretary of NEECSO (New England/Eastern Canada Seminar Organization) and regularly attends seminars of that organization.
